Hints for Visitors to ESAC

Arriving at ESAC

ESAC is difficult to reach by public transport and taxi drivers from Madrid often don't know the location, while the street address is usually not found in GPS systems. For this reason, detailed instructions in English and Spanish are available from the official Contact ESAC page. Different groups also have made their own detailed pages, e.g., "How to get to ESAC" (XMM-Newton SOC) or "Reaching ISOC at ESAC".

Entering the site

Your host will inform ESAC security of your arrival date, to speed up the process of getting on site. Please bring your national ID card or passport. You will need to present it to the gate guards on your first day to obtain a visitor pass.

Spanish Lifestyle / Eating Times

It may seem trivial, but frequently first-time visitors are not aware of the typical times for eating in Spanish restaurants and search in vain on the evening of their arrival for a place opening at 19:00 or 20:00. Giving your visitors some hints up front might avoid a trip to McDonalds or similar.
