Euclid Q1 Data - Euclid
Euclid Q1 Data Access
Users can access the public Q1 data in different ways:
- ESA Euclid (Science) Archive: the full data set can be accessed through the ESA Euclid Archive at the ESAC Science Data Centre (ESDC). The archive has a web GUI but since its backend uses IVOA protocols, tables and images (FITS files) can also be accessed from the command line (terminal). In addition, users can query the science archive using the astroquery.euclid Python toolkit.
- ESA's Datalabs: the full data set, augmented with tutorial notebooks, can also be accessed through ESA's Datalabs e-science platform. Access to Datalabs is limited to users with an ESA Cosmos account, which can be obtained through self-registration with invitation code 'EUCLIDQ1' (see details below). Detailed instructions on how to access data are provided below.
- ESASky: a subset of the data set, augmented by Hierarchical Progressive Survey (HiPS) images, can be accessed through ESASky.
- IPAC: the full data set can be accessed at the Euclid NASA Science Center at IPAC in the IRSA archive.
Euclid Q1 data is licensed with the CC BY-NC 3.0 IGO license (see the Terms and Conditions for the use of data in the ESA space science archives).
If not in possession of an ESA Cosmos account (which may be associated with a different mission or archive), users of ESA's Euclid (Science) Archive (System) are advised to self-register for an archive user account. This will unlock additional features such as your own user space to save queries and extended time-out quota. This personal user space in the Euclid Archive also allows you to upload some of your own data to use in combination with Euclid data. Also, you have the option to share some of your search results with other users of the Euclid Archive. This enables collaboration on the same dataset.
How to Access ESA Datalabs
The Euclid Q1 dataset is available on ESA Datalabs, allowing users to access the Euclid Q1 data volume without downloading, using the Euclid-Q1 datalab. However, as ESA Datalabs is still in development, this access is experimental. Users may encounter downtime and system instability, which could impact user experience. Important Notes:
- Primary access to Q1 data remains via the Euclid Science Archive.
- ESA Datalabs should not be used to download Euclid Q1 data products.
- Feedback from users through the Euclid Helpdesk is encouraged to improve future releases.
Access to ESA Datalabs requires an ESA Cosmos account. If you do not have a Cosmos account, you can self-register here.
To request an ESA Datalabs account:
- Visit the ESA Datalabs Self-Registration
- Sign in with your ESA Cosmos credentials
- Enter the invitation code: EUCLIDQ1 (as shown below)
- Submit your request (approval may take a couple of working days)
Since ESA Datalabs is in Public Moderated Beta, registrations are not automatic and require prior approval. The invitation code is mandatory for approval.
How to Open the Euclid-Q1 datalab
After your account is registered and approved, log into ESA Datalabs with your COSMOS credentials.
Access the Euclid-Q1 datalab from the catalogue by clicking "+ Launch new".
