The ESA's GNSS Science Support Centre (GSSC) is excited to invite all enthusiasts and professionals to join their upcoming webinar, titled "GSSC Now Webinar: Processing GNSS data from affordable receivers for ionospheric monitoring".
ESA’s AMIC initiative, led by Rokubun in collaboration with ICTP, addresses a critical challenge in GNSS-based monitoring of Earth’s Ionosphere and troposphere: the lack of coverage in remote regions like deserts, oceans, and inaccessible areas. Establishing receivers in these locations poses logistical and financial complexities due to potential equipment loss or damage, along with costly maintenance efforts. For a minimum of six months, AMIC project aims to ensuring continuous data collection while building new GNSS capabilities across Africa, South America, and India.
AMIC cost-effective solution provides high-quality data suitable for atmospheric monitoring applications. Central to the project is Rokubun’s MEDEA GNSS receiver, designed to deliver exceptional performance at an affordable cost. With an initial deployment of 20 receivers that introduces the concept of Affordable Continuous Operating Reference Networks (ACORN), the project streams data to ESA’s Navigation Digital Platform, GSSC Now, adhering to a commitment of long term availability and open access.
