XMM-Newton Users Group Meeting: Minutes and Presentations available
As announced in XMM News #183, the XMM-Newton Users Group (UG) met on the 7th and 8th June 2016 at ESAC. Following the invitation from the UG chair, as expressed in the newsletter, the UG collected and discussed comments and suggestions from the community. The agenda, presentations and minutes of the meeting are available at

Workshop Announcement: "Exploring the X-ray Transient and variable Sky"
The workshop "Exploring the X-ray Transient and variable Sky" will be held in Pavia (Italy) from the 21st to the 23rd of November 2016.
The workshop is aimed at reviewing and discussing variable phenomena in the X-rays, from observations and methods of data analysis, to modelling and theoretical implications/expectations, in all classes of X-ray emitters. Synergy of X-ray, multiwavelength and multi-messenger observations, as well as use of current and future serendipitous X-ray data will also be discussed. The workshop is organized within the frame of the EXTraS ("Exploring the X-ray Transient and variable Sky") project, whose aim is to extract and characterise the serendipitous content of the XMM-Newton/EPIC database in the time domain, and to make it available, and easy to use, to the whole community.
