XMM-Newton AO-18 closure
The XMM-Newton Eighteenth Announcement of Opportunity (AO-18) closed on the 5th of October 2018.
In total, 442 valid proposals were received, requesting 93 Ms of science time. This Announcement of Opportunity covers a period of one year, with 12.0 Ms of observing time available for distribution. The over-subscription factor is 7.7.
A total of 61 proposals were received for 'Large Programmes', and 15 for 'Fulfil Programmes'. Triggered/ToO observations were requested in 54 proposals. For the joint programmes, 100 proposals were submitted: 57 request time for the XMM-NuSTAR programme, 19 for the XMM-HST programme, 15 for the XMM-SWIFT programme, 13 for the XMM-Chandra programme, 6 for the XMM-VLT programme and 6 for XMM-NRAO programme.
SOC received proposals from 329 different principal investigators from 32 countries, mostly ESA member and associated states, the United States and Japan. The number of countries involved increases to 40 if co-investigators are taken into account as well. Considering principal investigators and co-investigators, about 1500 individual scientists were involved in the response to the eighteenth Announcement of Opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
