XMM-Newton SAS Team releases version 6.1.0

 

The XMM-Newton SAS team are very pleased to announce the release of a new version of the SAS: SAS 6.1.0

The main changes in this version with respect to SAS 6.0 are:

  • the introduction of RGS background modelling capability, based on RGS background templates. Especially important for the analysis of extended sources, this should also improve the signal to noise ratio for weak point sources
  • the OM grism data processing has changed substantially, and the output products have been simplified, making them more user-friendly

In addition calibration handling has been enhanced, as well as several minor bugs fixed.
