Due to a long-standing error in the task 'attcalc', the Euler Psi angle contained within the boresight calibration file had the wrong sign. In practically all cases the two errors canceled out yielding a correct astrometry reconstruction within SAS. However, direct use of the boresight numbers could result in wrong conversions. This upgrade, affecting several tasks, including attcalc, needs to go together with the new calibration file XMM_BORESIGHT_0026.CCF. The ALGOID mechanism applies here, to prevent SAS users from mixing incompatible SAS and CCF versions. - The new task (ebkgreg) determines the most suitable position of a circle region to get the background estimation of any source in an EPIC PN image. While the task is only working with PN data at the moment, it is thought to be extended to be able to work with MOS data in a foreseeable future. - A new task for fast calculation of upper limits, eupper. Given a position, specified in celestial coordinates, the task calculates the count rate upper limit for any sky image regardless of the instrument. - eboxdetect, the task for slide box source detection, has been upgraded for accepting also input data in detector coordinates. - The metatask for slew data analysis, eslewchain, is able now to produce .png files for each subimage. - RGS responses can be also derived by rgsrmfgen in separated files: a redistribution matrix (RMF) and a corresponding Ancillary Response Function (ARF). The default is however kept with a single response matrix, combining the effects. This version is released in several 64-bit binary versions for Linux and MacOs, but only in one 32-bit binary version (Linux RHEL 5.8). This version however has been tested to run correctly on several other platforms (we provide some libraries where necessary together with the distribution). As always, many other less important improvements and small bug fixes have taken place. 72 tasks have been upgraded all in all, with a total number of 129 sub-version changes.
