Long Period Variables Application - Gaia
Application highlighting Gaia's long period variables data set published in Gaia's Focused Product Release. Circles are plotted at the locations of the long period variables, and their growing and shrinking reflects the period of these variables. On the top left an indication is given of time with one orbit of the Earth about the Sun covering a year.
The colours represent the star temperatures: the redder the cooler and less bright.
By hoovering over a star, more information on that star is shown. Clicking it will bring you to the information on this star in ESASky (try refreshing your browser if it does not work immediately).
