Instructions
This table contains several interactive features:- Pass the mouse over a Package Name box and the corresponding SAS tasks that are needed to complete the given package will be highlighted in gold.
- Pass the mouse over a group of SAS tasks and those SAS tasks which are mandatory to be run beforehand will be highlighted in red, and those that are optional will be marked in green.
- If a thread, or section of a thread, is available describing how to perform a specific task, or a set of tasks, it will be marked by in the Thread column. Placing the mouse over , the name of the corresponding thread is shown in a pop-up window.

DATA PROCESSING Prepare data for scientific product extraction |
Data Preparation Compile ODF information |
All instruments Construct an index of the calibration files required to analyze a particular Observation Data File (ODF). Also, it is necessary to create an ODF summary file by combining information from the observation itself with that extracted from the instrument housekeeping datasets |
Calibrated Event Lists Obtain calibrated event lists for all instruments |
pn Process the pn part of an ODF in order to obtain a calibrated event list |
MOS Process the MOS part of an ODF in order to obtain a calibrated event list |
RGS Process the RGS part of an ODF in order to obtain a calibrated event list |
Event List Filtering and Diagnostics Prepare calibrated event lists for scientific product extraction |
pn, MOS Filter an event list for periods of high background flaring activity. Define and create Good-Time-Intervals (GTI). Several methods are available to create GTIs |
RGS Filter an event list for periods of high background flaring activity. Define and create Good-Time-Intervals (GTI) |
RGS Remove unwanted frames and events from the combined event list for RGS |
pn Evaluate and correct images and spectra for Out-of-Time (OoT) events |
pn, MOS Assess whether an observation is affected by pile-up |
RGS Assess whether an observation is affected by pile-up |
MOS Check and flag MOS CCDs affected by enhanced electronic soft X-ray noise present in some observations |
Photometry and Spectroscopy Obtain images, source lists, light curves or spectra |
OM Process the OM part of an ODF in order to obtain images and source lists, light curves or spectra |
