On 3 - 4 February 2015, ESA representatives went to University College Dublin (UCD) to kick off a Gaia related contract for an Added Value Interface (AVI) Portal. AVIs are considered to be analysis or visualisation routines developed by institutes or individuals which can be deployed in the Archive. From there the AVI would be available to all archive users. This idea came up in Gaia Archive Preparation (GAP) discussions to allow placing certain applications close to the data. In this case the Gaia Archive has benefited from a so called geo-return contract. At certain times ESA is required to adjust the return to certain contributing countries by placing contracts restricted to those countries. |
