    Successful first gaia data release 1 workshop
       
     

    Participants of the first Gaia Data Release 1 Workshop that took place on 2 to 4 November 2016 at ESAC in Spain.

    		  
     

    One and a half months after the first Gaia data was released, ESA and DPAC jointly organised a special Gaia Data Release 1 Workshop for the scientific community. On the programme was a variety of talks on both the opportunities for Gaia science and explanations on how to retrieve and use Gaia data.

    Most talks will become available soon through video on the Gaia Data Release 1 Workshop website. At the moment, all presentation slides are ready for download. Next to the presentations there are some tutorials on using the Gaia Archive and on the Astronomical Data Query Language (ADQL).

    About 150 people were present during the workshop and another 50 to 100 followed the ESA live stream event each day. The workshop was received well among both participants and organisers. Some impressions of the event are now available here. Next week on 21 to 24 November another workshop on Gaia data will take place, this time in Heidelberg, Germany.
